William E. “Bill” Bretherton Jr., of Ovid, passed
away after a very short illness and lifetime of battling cancer at
Geneva General Hospital on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the age of 74.
A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.

Bill was born on February 11, 1936 in Bradford, Pennsylvania to the
late William and Elizabeth (Kline) Bretherton Sr. He enlisted in the
US Army in 1967 and served as Military Policeman and Helicopter Gunner
during Vietnam and Korea. Bill was honorably discharged in 1976.

Bill was
an avid football fan and followed the Pittsburgh Steelers faithfully.
He was a member of VFW Post 6200 on Ovid and the American Legion 463
in Ovid.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a daughter,
Margo Bretherton; a sister, Margaret Wells; and two brothers, Jimmy
and Walt Bretherton. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Bretherton
of Ovid; three children, Tracy Bretherton of Inverness, FL and Annette
Fuqua of Homosassa, FL, and Michael Bretherton of York, PA; three
step-children, Deborah (Kenneth) Hohwald of Lodi, Ronald (Donna)
Parish of Romulus, and John Parish of Romulus; four grandchildren;
five step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; eight
step-great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Sandra Britton of Erie,
PA, Richard (Lisa) Bretherton of Kansas, and Sharon (Robert) King of
Bradford, PA. |
