Kenneth W. Reilly

December 27, 1939 — May 19, 2021

Ovid

Kenneth “Poppie” Reilly, age 81 of Ovid, NY passed unexpectedly in his home on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.

Ken was born in Queens, NY on December 27, 1939, a son of late Edward and Myrtle Reilly. In 1971, Ken and Olga moved their 5 children to Ovid to build a life away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Ken enjoyed a long career at the power plant of Willard Psychiatric Center and then the Willard Drug Treatment Center, all while running his own plumbing business and maintaining his family farm. After retiring in 2000, he spent his time traveling with his wife.  He and Olga enjoyed their country home, which was the hub of all family activities and spending winters in Haines City, FL.

He enjoyed wood working and sharing that love with his grandchildren, hunting with his dumb sh*t sons, shrimping in Florida, and sneaking snacks to his grand dogs. Poppie was an equal opportunity offender and an Amish groupie; he always had something smart to say and would do anything for a laugh.

Ken is survived by his wife of 59 years, Olga (lovingly shouted “AHHLGA”) and their pain in the a$$ children: Jimmy Reilly, Denise Reilly-Colburn, Maurene (Steve) Furnum, Richie (Missy) Reilly, Linda (Chris) Tallman and Bill Reilly, his 19 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, close friends and extended family.

He took pride in raising hard working, independent daughters and family leading sons, which has carried over into the hearts of all his grandchildren. Everything Ken did in his 81 years was driven by the love he had for his family, all the way through his last day.

All who knew him are welcome to join the family for a joyful celebration of his life on July 3, 2021 at 1:30 until the party stops. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to The American Lung Association in Ken’s memory
