Helen A. Dunbar, age 74, of Romulus passed away in Naples, Florida, at the home of her daughter, on Sunday, May 22, 2016.
Helen was born in Ovid, NY on November 15, 1941, the daughter of the late Ray and Elizabeth (Showers) Williamson. Helen was a registered nurse; she started her career in healthcare as a candy stripper and achieved her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She worked at Willard Psychiatric Center in Willard, NY for 25 years. Helen enjoyed the outdoors and spending time at the log cabin on Cayuga Lake after retiring. She and her late husband, Rick, would travel during the winter months in their RV, visiting family and friends throughout the States.
Helen was a cancer survivor for almost eight (8) years, she did not let the disease or treatments stop her from living her life - until the end.
Helen is survived by her son, Chris (Rose) Covert of Geneva, NY, her daughter, Karen (Michael) Miller of Naples, FL, and her step-daughter, Kiersten (Chris) FitzGerald of Hillsborough, NC. Helen also has 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and five (5) brothers, Helen was preceded in death by her first husband George M Covert in 1983 and her second husband John ‶Rick″ Dunbar in 2010.
The family will be planning a memorial service for later this summer in New York.
