A. Davis William

William A. ‶Bill″ Davis Sr., 78, of Ovid, passed away quietly in his sleep on October 27th, 2016 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

The family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Covert Funeral Home, 7199 South Main Street, Ovid. Burial services will be private for family at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Beverly Animal Shelter or Strong Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Bill❜s memory.

Bill was born in Seneca Falls to Richard ‶Art″ Davis and Ruth (Troutman) Davis on January 7, 1938. He went to school at Romulus Central and retired from the Willard State Psych Center. Bill also worked for many years in Florida as Head Grounds Manager at a Bonita Springs Golf Community. He was an avid hunter and sportsman in his younger days. Bill was a former member of the Varick Volunteer Fire Department. He was a big fan of Nascar from the early days to present and enjoyed calling Bingo on Friday's with his friends at Verona Village in Ovid. He will be missed by family and his many good friends at Verona Village.

Bill was preceded in death by his father Art; mother, Ruth; stepmother, Doris Warne Davis; and his second wife Marilyn.

Bill is survived by his sons, Bill (Pamela) Davis, Tim (Kristy) Davis, Jeff (Wanda) Davis, and Mark (Heidi) Davis; the mother of his children, Gloria Long; brother Richard A. Davis; sister Dorothy Colwell; step brother, Larry Warne; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren;10 step great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
