Willis A. “Butch” DeLooze
OVID-Willis A. DeLooze, age 74, passed away at Geneva General Hospital on Friday, June 5, 2015.
Butch was born in Clifton Springs on January 19th, 1941, one of many children born to the late Peter B. and Gertrude (Ford) DeLooze. He attended Phelps High School, and entered the US Army in 1958. Following his honorable discharge in 1966, Butch also served in the National Guard for several years. He lived in Ontario and Livingston Counties, working as a self employed carpenter, mason and farmer. He and his family made their home in Ovid nearly 25 years ago, and he became a member of the Manning-Lilla American Legion Post #463 in Ovid. In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and coin collecting.
Butch is survived by his wife, Doris M. DeLooze of Ovid, his daughters; Elizabeth DeLooze of Ovid and Melissa (Alex) Metcalf of New Oxford, PA, his sisters; Eleanor Brignal and Barbara Bowman of Phelps.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Raymond, Edmond, Bernard, Thomas, Virginia Rohlin, Marjory Record and Emily Horton.
There will a graveside memorial service with military honors at 11:00am on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the West Lodi Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at the Ovid American Legion.
