Ann (Deal) Nivison

Rose Ann Nivison, age 87, longtime resident of Main Street, died at Geneva General on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, following a brief hospitalization.

Ann was born in Varick on March 15, 1937, a daughter of the late Harvey and Anna (nee Jennings) Deal. She had worked for many years as a therapy aide at Willard Psychiatric Center, retiring in 1992.  Ann was married to Al Nivison on July 31, 1970, and together they blended a family of his, hers and ours which has held strong for 54 years.  Their home has been the center from which many happy holidays, birthdays and memories were made. Ann’s love and affection poured out to each member of her family, along with great laughter and joy.   Family trips, lively card games, crafting, trips to the casino and lunch “up town” were some of Ann’s favorite things to do. Her bright smile, quick wit and joyful personality will be missed by everyone.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Al; her children, Carol (James) Grace of Gainesville, GA, Lisa (Barrett) Cotter of Havelock, NC, Beth (Tom) Taylor of Buffalo, NY, Bret (Michelle) Colburn of Endicott, NY, Michael Nivison of Waterloo, NY, Kimberley Nivison of Greenville, NC and Julie Nivison of Clyde, NY and numerous adored grandchildren, great and great greatgrandchildren. Ann was preceded in death by her son, Charles Donah; her sisters, Mary Green, Ruth Sachs and Dorothy Locke; a brother, Paul Deal; and by her son in law, Matt Null.

The family will receive friends at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid on Tuesday, October 29th from 10:00 to 11:00am.  A Memorial Service will then be officiated by Pastor Rob Mellgard of the Ovid Federated Church.
