Charles C. Bennett, age 91, of 3 Timberlake Terrace, passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Monday, September 10, 2018.
The family will receive friends at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Thursday, September 13, 2018. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 10:00am on Friday, officiated by Pastor Rob Mellgard of the Ovid Federated Church. Prayers of committal with military honors will be at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Charlie was born in Homer, NY on August 30, 1927, a son of the late Charles C. and Jessie (Twentyman) Bennett Sr. He served his country in the US Army Air Forces at the end of WWII, after completing his first semester at Syracuse University, and went on to attend Cornell University. Charlie worked at Glasgow Construction in Glenside, PA for 17 years, and then as a pilot for Eastern Metro Express of Atlanta, GA until his early retirement, and maintained his private pilot❜s license for many years. He and his wife, Eva, provided lodging for guests at their homes, on Route 89, Lake Country Estates for over 40 years.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 69 years, Eva; his daughters, Shelley L. (Luis) Urrunaga of Ovid, Christine J. (Charles) Testa of Lansdale, PA, Cynthia P. (Michael) Seigafuse of Spring City, PA and Brenda C. (Dan) Rose of Phoenix, AZ; 5 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, John M. Bennett of Seattle, WA, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, and sister, Erma J. Comfort.
