Harry C. Gleason, 93, of Romulus, passed away peacefully at his home on Cayuga Lake after a long illness on Thursday, May 26, 2016.
In keeping with Harry❜s wishes there will be no services.
Harry was born in Little Falls on April 19, 1923, a son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Bachta) Gleason. He owned and operated the Tri-Village Pennysaver for over 40 years and served as the President of the NYS Pennysaver Association. An incredibly savvy businessman, Harry founded and co-owned several other companies including Waynco, specializing in paper and ink supplies, Copco in Canandaigua which served as a centrally located print shop, and founded Zebra Mussel Filter System in Romulus where he held two patents for the filtration system he developed.
In the late 1950❜s he co-founded and built the Bainbridge Beach Road in Interlaken. An active Interlaken community member, Harry also was a member of the Interlaken Fire Department and was a Mason.
Harry is survived by two daughters, Elaine (Henry) Palach and Sharon (Charles Perkins) Braund-Perkins; three grandchildren, Mark (Mellissa) Taylor, Zachary Taylor, and Matthew Betzler (fiancé, Michelle Miller); two great grandchildren, Madeline and Alivea Taylor; adopted son, Jeff (Elizabeth) Bond; faithful cat, Max; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Mae Ida Gleason; two brothers, Joseph and George Gleason; and a sister, Theresa Fornesi.
Harry❜s family is deeply grateful for the long time compassionate care provided by his home health care team.
