Richard C. McCall, age 101, of Lodi passed away at Seneca Nursing and Rehab in Waterloo surrounded by family on Saturday, November 29, 2014.
The family will be present to receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00pm on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the Covert Funeral Home, 7199 South Main Street, Ovid. Funeral Services will immediately follow at the funeral home at 1:00pm. Prayers of Committal and Military Honors will follow in Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Richard was born on December 7, 1912 in Lodi, a son of the late John and Georgianna (Neal) McCall. He honorably served his country during World War II as a medic in the United States Army. Following the end of the war, he trained to be a pilot. After completing his military service, Richard moved to Colorado where he owned a meat and frozen food packing plant and worked as a prospector. In 1970, he moved back to Lodi where he worked at Clover Farm in Geneva, the Super Duper in Ithaca, and the Big M in Ovid.
He was a member of the Ovid VFW Post 6200, American Legion Post 463, Ovid and Interlaken Sportsmen❜s Clubs, and the Moore Lodge 823 in Seneca Falls.
Richard is survived by his four children, Tom (Rae) McCall of Fort Collins, CO, Charlene VanHorn of Willard, Shari (Carl) Pollock of Covington TWP, PA, and Timi (Steven) Caskey of Germany; eleven grandchildren, Danielle (Cody) VanHorn Cornwell, Michael, and Stephen (Tamara) VanHorn, Nickolas, Joseph, and Erin Pollack, Nathan, Connor, and Jamie Caskey, Chelsea McCall, and Starlyn (Seth) McCall Haneman; nine great grandchildren; and the mother of his daughters, Barbara McCall. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, Robert McCall.
