Clifford Herman, age 78, died on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Cayuga Ridge Extended Care Facility, after a 12 year battle with various cancers and a 4 year battle with rheumatoid arthritis.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no memorial service.
He was born in Ithaca on June 13, 1945, a son to the late David and Frances (Blew) Herman. Clifford graduated from Interlaken Central School in 1964 and while in high school enlisted in the United States Naval Reserves. After his father’s death, he was released from the military to help care for his mother. While working full time, Clifford went to night school for tractor trailer driver training and received his CDL. He drove trucks and buses for various businesses for several years. He was last employed by the NYS Department of Corrections as a Maintenance Assistant, retiring in 2013.
He was a member of the Lodi Grange #213, Seneca County Pomona Grange, and the New York State Grange. Although he was never a member of the Lodi Historical Society, he volunteered many hours helping with their special events.
Clifford is survived by half nieces; half nephews; special half-nephew, Edwin (Darlene) Herman; cousins; and long-time friend and caregiver, Noel Clawson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three older half brothers, Charles, Donald Sr., and Gerald Herman; and several half nephews.
