David M. Borden

David M. Borden, age 88, longtime resident of 7834 State Route 89, died at Huntington Living Center in Waterloo on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

Dave was born in Ovid Center on May 22, 1935 a son of the late Oliver and Gladys (nee Wilcox) Borden.  He was a graduate of Interlaken High School and attended the Paul Revere School in Rochester for auto body work. Dave worked at Sampson State School until it’s closure in 1971 and then transferred to Willard Psychiatric Center, retiring with 26 years of service as a ward attendant.  He operated Borden Auto Parts with his father for many years and Dave’s Garage on Route 89 for 40 years. He was a licensed pilot and a member of the Ovid Flying Club. In his retirement, he wintered with his wife in Homosassa, FL.

He is survived by his wife Lois; by his children, James (Ellie) of Interlaken, William (Susan) of Trumansburg, Timothy (Denise) of Interlaken and Steven (Lori) of Virginia Beach, VA;  5 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; a brother, Allen Borden of Massachusetts

The family will receive friends at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 Main Street in Ovid on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 11:00am to 12:00pm. A Memorial service will then follow, at 12:00pm, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Rob Mellgard. Prayers of committal will be held at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken.
