David John Corning, age 55, longtime resident of Ovid, died at Geneva General Hospital on Saturday, November 27, 2021.

David will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of music, and his devotion to his family. He had an exceptionally kind and compassionate soul, and he was an extremely proud father and grandfather.

David was born in Newton, Massachusetts on September 25, 1966, the son of Robert and Karen (Cleaveland) Corning.  He was a graduate of South Seneca High School, Corning Community College and Mansfield University.  He was a special education teacher at TST BOCES in Ithaca for more than 10 years.

He is survived by his parents, Robert and Karen Corning, longtime residents of Ovid; his children, Christopher (Mariah) Corning of Interlaken, David Charles (Courtney Griffin) Corning, Eli Corning (Kiersten DeMarco), and Sarah Corning all of Ovid; his grandchildren, Bennett, Nolan and Quinn; his siblings, Robert (Lauren) Corning of Belmont, MA and Christine (Terry) Malloy of Big Flats, NY and his nieces and nephews, Anna, Trevor, Jacob, Max and Hannah; several aunts, uncles and cousins. David was preceded in death by his brother, Charles E. “Chuck” Corning in 1986.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00pm on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid.  At 3:00pm family and friends are invited to share stories and words of remembrance.
