David L. Reynolds, a beloved pillar of the Ovid community, passed away at the age of 70 on August 29, 2023, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family.

A service to honor his memory will be held at the NYS Veterans Cemetery – FLX, Romulus, NY, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, consider a tribute to his legacy with a donation to the Wilmot Cancer Institute C/O Alumni and Advancement Center PO Box 278996, Rochester, NY 14627.

Born on January 9, 1953, in Auburn, NY,  David was the son of the late Lowell and Mary (nee Clancy) Reynolds. He was the youngest graduate of Auburn Central High. Following graduation, David's sense of duty led him to the US Navy at the tender age of 17.  He honed his skills at the Naval Intelligence School in Pensacola, FL, and served with distinction in Okinawa, and the Philippines, during the Vietnam war. He was involved in three op’s in Vietnam, namely the July 14, 1972 operation of Detachment Alpha.  Additionally, he served aboard the USS Saratoga, the USS Hancock, and was a member of the 8th Army Phu-Bai.

After serving his country faithfully, David continued to serve his community, dedicating 30 years to the NYS Department of Corrections, in 13 different NYS facilities, retiring as a Captain of the NYS Department of Corrections from Willard DTC.

David's legacy is carried forward by his loving wife, Patricia; his devoted children, Kristin (Ashford) Bradly, Nicholas (Sarah) Reynolds, Brandon (Gilly) Connolly, and Tyler (Kaede) Jenner; his cherished grandchildren; Olivia, Kinleigh, Johnathan David, Lex, and his siblings, Ronald (Cheryl) Reynolds, Cindy (William) Ladd, and Kathleen (David) Kreydatus. Along with the several nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered for his generosity, wisdom and kindness. He now joins his parents in heavenly peace.
