Dewey R. Albro, longtime resident of Prospect Street, died peacefully at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, subsequent to complications of a rare muscular disease.
Dewey was born in Seneca Falls on July 29, 1942, a son of the late Frank R. and Augusta (nee Howes) Albro. He was a graduate of Ovid High School and began his working career at Willard Psychiatric Center. He later worked at Cornell University and then the NYSDOT. Dewey became the Village Superintendent for the Village of Interlaken, from which he retired in 1997. Dewey was actively involved in Boy Scouts while his 3 sons were growing up. He was an avid hunter and fisherman all his life and was a member of the Interlaken Sportsmen’s Club in addition to being a member of the Interlaken Fire Department. Following his retirement, he and his wife wintered in Parker, Arizona for many years.
Dewey is survived by his wife of 61 years; Vonnie and his sons; Eric (Tina) of Interlaken, Kristopher (Susie) of Interlaken and Douglas of Seneca Falls, his grandchildren; Cory, Jacob, Erika and Sarah, and great grandchildren, Forrest, Octavia and Julia. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Bajdas.
