E. Joslyn James

d. July 10, 2016

James Edward Joslyn, Jr of Willard, NY passed away at home on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at age 89.

Jim was born on March 21, 1927 to the late James E. Joslyn, Sr. and Mabel Carrie Joslyn. He attended Romulus Central School and was drafted directly from high school to serve in the United States Army during World War II. After military service Jim returned to Romulus to work for many years at the Seneca Army Depot. He later worked for and retired from New York State Department of Transportation. Jim was never one to sit still and also worked at the former Cook's Texaco and for the NYS Canal System. Jim loved all things with an engine and raced stock cars at the South Seneca Speedway. Jim could fix nearly anything and instilled in his children the knowledge and desire to "do it yourself". He also loved gardening, lawn work, carpentry, travel, hot weather, his home in the Finger Lakes and chocolate. He enjoyed being around people and would do anything to help others. He had a great sense of humor and personified "old time" values of honor, loyalty, good manners and hard work.

Jim is survived by his wife Phyllis L. Joslyn; his son Michael (Mary Ann); his daughter Mary (Michele), step children Deborah Lincoln and Bruce King; sister Leoma (Ken) Canne and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Dorothy Joslyn, his brother Joseph Joslyn and sister Sally Hirsch. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him and fondly remembered for his selfless contributions.

Prayers of committal and military honors will be offered at 1:00pm on Monday, July 18, 2016 at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Contributions may be made in Jim's memory to South Seneca Ambulance Corps, PO Box 280, Ovid NY.14521
