E. Covert Kathleen

Kathleen E. Covert, age 64, of Interlaken, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, March 17, 2016.

Kathy was born on December 18, 1951 in Ithaca, NY, daughter of Robert W. and Marion Stewart. She was a graduate of Interlaken Central School and had worked at Tompkins County Hospital until failing health forced her retirement in the late 1980❜s.

Kathy was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend who always put the needs of those she loved before her own. Kathy was a brilliant woman and a seemingly endless fountain of knowledge in many things and was undoubtedly the foremost authority of movies. Her passions were sports and film. Kathy spent much of her time fanatically following her favorite teams, especially the NY Yankees, NASCAR drivers and athletes. Those who loved Kathy knew that they came somewhere in line behind her beloved cats. Her four legged children found their way into Kathy❜s life as is they knew they would be treated like Royalty.

She is survived by her sons, Richard Covert of Trumansburg, Adam Covert of Interlaken; her grandchildren, Jordan and Paige LaPoint of Enfield; her former husband and good friend, Don ‶Gilbert″ Covert of Ovid; her siblings, Elaine Joseph of Interlaken, Janet Johnson of Interlaken, John (Marianne) Gleason of Clifton Park, NY and her sister in law, Patti Gleason of Trumansburg, several loving nieces and nephews as well as many dear cousins from PA that she spent her childhood summers with. Last, but not least her cats Ivory, Emma and Daisy.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Carol Draheim, Barb English, and Gary Gleason and by her cats ‶Big Golden Man″ Sunny, Tootie and Missy.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, March 25, 2016 at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 South Main Street in Ovid. A service of remembrance will be held at the funeral home at Noon on Saturday, March 26, 2016, followed by prayers of committal at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken.
