E. Standish Mclaughlin Margaret

d. February 16, 2015

Margaret E. Standish McLaughlin, age 99, former longtime resident of Munson Road in Interlaken, died on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Vestal Park Nursing Center.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am on Friday, February 20th, 2015 at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 So. Main Street in Ovid. A funeral service will then follow at 11:00am, officiated by Pastor Jason Fulkerson of the Interlaken Reformed Church. Prayers of committal will be held at Ovid Union Cemetery in the spring.

Margaret was born on April 19, 1915 in Oxford, NY, a daughter of the late Charles and Alice B. (Madison) Hughes. She moved to the Interlaken/Ovid area nearly 55 years ago, and had a long career at Willard Psychiatric Center, working as part of the kitchen staff. Margaret had been an active member of the VFW Post 6200 and American Legion Post 463 Ladies Auxiliaries. She enjoyed being a homemaker to her large family, feeding and watching the birds at her home, gardening and she loved to dance, both round and square. Well into her late 90❜s, Margaret retained her spunky attitude, for which she will be long remembered.

Margaret is survived by her children; Harold (Judy) Standish of Grand Junction, CO, David (Joyce Denmark) Standish of Interlaken and Margaret (Paul) Goodrich of Johnson City; her step-sons; Brian McLaughlin of Waterloo and Tim McLaughlin of Canandaigua, her daughter in law, Virginia Standish and numerous grandchildren and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, the father of her children, George Standish, and her husband, George McLaughlin, as well as by her son, George Wm. Standish and a daughter Mary Miller.

The family would like to thank the staff at Vestal Park Nursing Center for the loving care shown to Margaret over the past two years.
