F. "Sally" Wooledge Sara

Sara F. “Sally” Wooledge-Dawley, age 98, longtime resident of East Lake Road in Willard, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Ovid Federated Church at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, officiated by Rev. Rob Mellgard. The family will host a reception at the church following the service. Prayers of committal will be held privately at Ovid Union Cemetery. Sally was born in Manchester, TN on March 19, 1920, a daugther of the late Lonnie L. and Minnie (Simmons) Daniel Sr. She and her husband, John Wooledge moved to NY duringWWII. They built their home on East Lake Road in 1952, and Sally had a long career at Willard Psychiatric Center, as an operating room attendant. In her many years of retirement, she was active in the DAR: Chief Taughannock Chapter, 20th Century Club and the Romulus and Ovid Historical Societies, as well as serving as president of the local CSEA chapter, and served as the Romulus Town Historian. For more than 40 years, she operated Appletown Antiques, which started out with her refinishing furniture at home, which led to antique shows all across NY and PA. Additionally, Sally was a licensed realtor with Odomirok Realty in Ovid. She and her two best friends, Harriet Casey and Betty Favreau, known in the Ovid area as The Golden Girls, traveled and enjoyed many wonderful times together. Sally was the oldest living member of the Ovid Federated Church, in which she was very active, holding many offices and serving on committees.

She is survived by her sons; John Gerald (Marty) Wooledge of Willard, Ronald Daniel (Karen) Wooledge of Lorain , OH, 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; a sister, Tennie Lee Green of Pittsford, and several extended family members. Sally was preceded in death by her husband, John James Wooledge in 1969, and by Robert Dawley in 1984, and by her brother, Lonnie Daniel Jr.
