Florene H. (Hathaway) Beaujon

Florene H. Beaujon, age 92, passed away at Geneva Living Center North on Sunday, June 5, 2022.

An interment ceremony will be held at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Monday, July 25, 2022 at 10:00am.  Kindly consider a donation in Florene’s memory to the Ovid Ecumenical Food Pantry, PO Box 340, Ovid, NY 14521.

Born on June 7, 1929 in Binghamton, NY, Florene was the only daughter of the late Frank L. and Joyce (Pickering) Hathaway. She was a graduate of Union-Endicott High School and shortly thereafter, married her WWII pen pal sweetheart, Charles Beaujon. Chuck and Florene farmed on Kinne Road in Ovid. She was an active member of the Ovid Federated Church, serving on most of the committees within it. Florene was instrumental in the construction of the current church buildings, founding the Ovid Food Pantry and the Ovid Thrift Shop - always seeking ways to reach out to and serve the greater community. Florene was a certified Lay Speaker conveying God’s message around the state.

Many local children passed through the kitchen door of the Aunt Flo’s house where she nurtured and guided their early childhood years.  She loved every single one of them as her own.

She is survived by four children, Linda (Charles) Hurd of Waterloo, Edward (Wendy) Beaujon of Center Valley,PA, Laurie (Kevin) Butler of Ovid, and James (Priscilla) Beaujon of Canandaigua; nine grandchildren, Andrew (Kelly) and Matthew Hurd, Christopher (Lisa) Beaujon, Scott (Lindsay) Butler, Danielle (Brendan) Hoey, Sarah (Ben) Besemer, Allen (Mckenzie), Audra, and Alicia Beaujon; eleven great-granchildren, Mackenzie, Mercedes, Miranda, Mattia, Keira, James, Kylie, Greyson, Ella, Hudson and Beauden; her brothers, Robert (Mary Jo), Charles (Helen) and Lon (Michiko) Hathaway; her sister in love, Helen Beaujon Roberts and dozens of nieces, nephews and their families who were all near and dear to her heart. Florene was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Charles F. Beaujon Jr. in 2013.
