G. Vargason Florence

Florence G. Vargason, age 97, of Ovid, passed away at Cayuga Ridge Extended Care Facility on Saturday, March 4, 2017.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Ovid Federated Church, 7137 Main Street, Ovid. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 2:00pm
at the church. Prayers of committal will follow at Mount Green Cemetery in Romulus.

Florence was born at home in Varick on May 17, 1919, a daughter of the late Charles Wilford and Elnora (Worden) Lisk. She graduated from Romulus High School in 1939. A member of the Romulus Grange since 1933, Florence transferred her membership to the Ovid Grange in 1943, and then the Interlaken Grange in 1992. In 1931 she became a member of the Romulus Presbyterian Church, alter transferring in 1993 her membership to the Ovid Federated Church. An avid reader, she was a self-proclaimed ‶bookaholic.″ When not reading she was baking all kinds of wonderful cookies, pies and cakes. Florence took great pride in her family and the relationships with her children, grandchildren, and friends brought her great joy.

Florence is survived by two daughters, Elnora (Jim) Creswell and Diane Theetge; four grandsons, Melvin J. Creswell, David (Charlene) Creswell, Edwin (Chandra) Theetge, and Doug (Adrianne) Theetge; great grandchildren Shawn Creswell, Robert, Nicholas, Aliza, and Hudson Theetge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Vargason in 1989 and son-in-law Dale Theetge
in 2011.
