Gwendolyn P. (Borden) Lewis

Gwendolyn Lewis, age 89, longtime resident of Gilbert Station Road, died at Oak Hill Manor in Ithaca on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

Gwen was born in Corning, NY on December 22, 1931, a daughter of the late Albert and Hazel Borden.  She was a graduate of Painted Post High School and had lived in the Hornby area for many years before moving to Ovid.  She worked as a therapy aide at Willard Psychiatric Center from the early 1970’s until 1994.  She was a proud life member of both the American Legion and VFW Post auxiliaries in Ovid.

She is survived by her only son, Alonzo C. Lewis of Ovid.  Gwen was preceded in death by her daughter in law, Barbara Gail Lewis in 2011, by her special friend, Bernard Leavitt in 2016, and by her son’s father, Alonzo C. Lewis Jr. in 2003.
