Honorine C. Rock, age 97, longtime resident of West Blaine Road, died at Laurel House hospice in Newark on Monday, April 24, 2023.
Honorine was born in Auburn on January 30, 1926, a daughter of the late Harry D. and Blanche (nee Comerford) Chamberlain. Following graduation, she attended Freeman’s Business School in Geneva and worked at Sampson Naval Base and then Plattsburgh Air Force Base. Honorine then worked in the accounting department at Kodak in Rochester until her retirement. She was a member of the Chief Taughannock Chapter of the DAR and former state officer of the OES, member of the Romulus Historical Society, 20th Century Club and former board member of the Edith B. Ford Library. She was inducted into the Who’s Who of executives and professionals in 2003. Honorine was an important part of the family operation of the Golden Buck, making many of the desserts offered daily.
She is survived by her siblings; H. David (Angelina) Chamberlain of Rochester, Marilyn O’Sullivan of San Antonio, TX, Douglas (Paula) Chamberlain of Watkins Glen, Rosalie (James) Scaccia of Stratham, NH and Donald Chamberlain of Ovid, numerous nieces and nephews and their families and her longtime house guest, Candy Fish. Honorine was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca (Steve) Nemec and brother-in-law, George O’Sullivan.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am to Noon on Monday, June 19th, 2023 at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid, a memorial service will then be held at Noon, officiated by Pastor Rob Mellgard of the Ovid Federated Church. Interment was held privately at the Owasco Rural Cemetery in Skaneateles.
