Frederick I. ‶Tuck″ Swick, age 92, of 2675 Swick Road, died suddenly on Friday, September 22, 2017 from an accidental fall.

The family will receive friends at the Ovid Federated Church from 9:30 to 11:00am on Wednesday, September 27th. A funeral service will then follow at 11:00am at the church, officiated by Pastors Rob Mellgard and Diane Walker. Prayers of committal will be held at Ovid Union Cemetery. Mr. Swick was born May 2, 1925 at his parent❜s home at 2657 Swick Road, Ovid, Romulus Township. He was the son of the late Clarence B. and Lena (Medlock) Swick. His love of the farm, which was home to multiple generations of the Swick family, was truly a part of his everyday life. For thirty years Fred helped his father work the family farm planting and harvesting crops. He cultivated the crops, tended to the livestock, and was the steward of many acres on Swick Road for decades. Fred kept the Swick Family Farm running for many years after his father passed.

Fred retired in January 1986 from the Seneca Army Depot as Chief of the Management Review and Analysis Division. He had served over 32 years in various capacities at the depot. Prior to this, he had worked at Andes Range, Sampson Naval Base, A.C. Lawrence Leather Co., Hart Pressed Steel, Corning Glass, Sears, Wards, and the Outdoor Store in Canandaigua. He was a member of the Ovid Federated Church, life member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE), past president of the local NARFE 1620, past 2nd Vice President, Area VI Rep., T&P and Membership Chairs of the New York State Federation of Chapters.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Glada Ewing Swick, one son, William F. (Rebecca O❜Grady) Swick of Trumansburg; daughters, Linda J. Swick of Geneva, and Mary Ellen (Dana) Swick of Trumansburg; two granddaughters, Ashleigh Picarro and Harlie Swick; a grandson, Austin Swick; a stepson, Fredrick Ewing of Beckley, WV, and step-daughters, Mary Ann Sills of Beckley, West Virginia and Carolyn (Mike) Wheat of Clifton Springs; step-grandchildren, Sean (Tammy) Martin, Natalie (Lee) Farr, Victoria Sills, Benjamin Wheat and Emily (Steve Hudnut) Wheat; and step great grandchildren, Gabriel Martin and Lita Zarpentine and several nieces and nephews and family members. Fred was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Virginia Sparling Swick in 1984, and by his brothers, Edwin C. Swick in 1979 and William A. Swick in 1947.
