Virginia I. LaBour, age 84, lifetime resident of Seneca County, died at Geneva General Hospital on Wednesday, December 31, 2014.
In accordance with Virginia❜s wishes, a Memorial Graveside at Oak Hill Cemetery in McDuffietown will be announced for May of 2015. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Oak Hill Cemetery Assoc., PO Box 224. Willard, NY 14588, in her memory.
Virginia was born in the Town of Varick, a daughter of the late Allan and Clara Belle (Gable) Hicks. She was a 1949 graduate of Romulus High School, and had a long career at Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls, where she worked as a production clerk, until her retirement in 1996. Virginia had been a member and past president of the Board of Trustees for the Varick United Methodist Church, and played an active role in the Schaeffer Class of the church. Additionally, she was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and den mother for the Cub Scouts, a master euchre player and lifelong, avid Yankee fan. Virginia was eternally devoted to her family, friends and faith.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (Dana) Scutt of Indian Land, SC, and a son, Stephen LaBour of Tampa, FL; her grandchildren, Allan (Kelly) Scutt of Columbia City, IN, and Ryan (Brooke) Scutt of Newport News, VA and by 4 great grandchildren; her siblings, James (Barbara) Hicks of Willard, and Alice (Thomas) Howard of Waterloo, along with several nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her brother, William Hicks.
