Ivan Dean Duncan

November 9, 1936 — August 22, 2022

Yukon, Oklahoma

Ivan Dean Duncan passed away on August 8, 2022, at the age of 85 years old in Oklahoma City, OK. "Dean" was born in Greenfield, OK on Nov 9, 1936, to parents Lois & Homer Duncan. When he was still in grade school, the family moved to Ovid, NY where Dean finished the remainder of his school career, graduating in 1955. Dean joined the Navy soon after and saw many parts of the world from a Navy support ship. In 1957, Dean took advantage of an early honorable discharge offered to the military by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Relocating to Stillwater, OK, Dean attended and graduated from Oklahoma State University. He became a lifelong Cowboy's fan and purchased season football tickets and attended games for many decades to follow.

Dean's personality and dedication to his job resulted in a successful sales career with different companies and U.S. states throughout his life. Once he retired from sales, he resettled in Oklahoma City, OK and dove into a woodworking hobby. He built Adirondack chairs that he sold to individuals and then started making wooden "directors chairs" for his Texas clients in the rodeo and reining horse industries, as well as designing and building out of wood just about anything else that he needed, from can openers and birdhouses, to tables and trash bag racks, and even large deer carts and tree stands for hunting.

Dean was always active in life. He would play golf at least once a week and enjoyed photography. He shared a large property near Binger, OK that he would go to several times a week to ride ATV's and hunt deer and pigs when in season. He enjoyed maintaining the property by mowing the grass with his tractor or clearing new paths for the ATV's, and any other type maintenance that needed to be done on the property. He would also deer hunt elsewhere in OK several times annually, and enjoyed traveling to prospect for gold in AZ and NM. For a time, he also enjoyed fishing and relaxing at Lake Carl Blackwell outside of his college alma mater, and owned several boats and RV's over the years in pursuit of these recreational activities.

Dean is survived by his daughter Paula Duncan; son and future daughter-in-law Ronnie Duncan and Michelle Nebeker; grandchildren Matt Nichols, James Duncan, Shelby Pyle, Aaron Duncan, Leo Scionti, and Olivia Scionti;; and brother-in-law and sister, Lou & Ruth Patrignani. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lois & Homer Duncan, siblings Bill Duncan and Ann Scott, and grandsons Kyle Duncan and Evan Duncan.
