J. Swick Barbara

d. August 22, 2016

Barbara J. Swick, age 83, former longtime resident of Lodi, died at Geneva General Hospital on Monday, August 22, 2016.

Barbara was born on May 12, 1933, a daughter of the late Arnie and Eva Morgan. She had worked at Willard Psychiatric Center, Seneca Army Depot, and Cornell University. She later chose to stay at home and raise her ever growing family. She was a terrific cook, and took great pride in her canning. Barbara lived a very active life and enjoyed many activities. Everything from playing cards with close friends, buying her grandkids candy to ‶share″ with her, to taking her kids and grandkids to bingo (where they got to keep their winnings)! She was ‶grandma″ to so many children throughout the years. She loved spending time with children from all walks of life, always taking time to talk with them, make them feel loved, and make sure that they had their fair share of popsicles and candy. She remained at home in Lodi following the death of her husband, Ronald, and has been a resident of Huntington Living Center for the past few years.

Barbara is survived by her children, Larry VanDoren of South Carolina, Scott (Paula) VanDoren and Asa Swick, all of Waterloo; Pamela Anderson of Zephyrhills, FL, her grandchildren; Nichole VanDoren, Larry VanDoren Jr., Amber VanDoren, Lyman Wheaton, Cassandra Kaiser, Haley Swick, Ronald Swick, Ryan VanDoren, Mathew VanDoren, Lora VanDoren, Frannie, Jackie, and their families.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 South Main Street in Ovid. Interment will be held privately at West Lodi Cemetery.
