Gary J. Walborn, age 75, longtime resident of Verona Village, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Living Center at Geneva-North.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Covert Funeral Home. Prayers of committal with military honors will be held at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 10:00am on Friday, June 16, 2017. Gary was born in Romulus on February 13, 1942, one of ten children born to Howard and Edna Updike. Following his graduation from Romulus High School, Gary was drafted into the US Army, where he served in Germany during the Vietnam Era, 1964-1966. He returned home and worked at Sunnyside Farm with his brother for many years. Gary was a railroad enthusiast and member of the ‶Flying Club″ based at the Ovid airport. He had been a member of both the American Legion and VFW in Ovid.
He is survived by his brothers, Glenn (Eileen) Walborn and Ralph (Juanita) Walborn of Romulus and a large extended family. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brothers, James, George ‶Joe″, Richard ‶Red″, Norman ‶Hopper″, Kenneth, Paul and a sister, Margaret ‶Maggie″ Malone.
