J. Walborn Kareen

d. May 31, 2015

Mrs. Kareen J. Walborn died peacefully on May 31, 2015, at the age of 77.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00am on Friday, June 5, 2015, at the Ovid Federated Church. There will be a time of fellowship afterwards in the church's fellowship hall, with a prayers of committal at Mount Green Cemetery following. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kareen's life. In lieu of flowers, Kareen asked if you would please consider a donation to the Ovid Federated Church or the American Cancer Society.

Kareen was born in Seneca Falls, NY on January 17, 1938. She attended Romulus Central School and after finishing there went to work for multiple State Hospitals such as Marcy, Newark, Sampson, and Willard, from which she retired in 1993. After retirement, she worked as a Proofreader at the Pennysaver-a job right up her alley as she loved anything to do with words, reading, and spelling!

Kareen was a kind, generous woman who loved being with family as often as possible. She loved playing Euchre, Scrabble, and letting Paul win at Crazy Eights every noon hour. She was active in her church, Ovid Federated, helping with the yearly Election Night dinners and the church's Nursery Sunday School. She enjoyed the Ladies' Bible Study held Sunday evenings and was instrumental in helping the church's Thrift Shop get up and running smoothly. She could be seen working at Ovid's yearly Strawberry Festival as well.

Kareen is survived by her loving husband, Paul, of 47 years. Children, Mary Henry(Lee) of Penn Yan and Mark(Tamara) of Sevierville, TN. Stepchildren Paul, Jr. and Linda Bush(Floyd). Grandchildren Joshua, MacKenzie, Hadleigh, Hayden, Cari, Sean, Shane, Heather, Andrea, Amanda, Laura, Joel, and Melanie. Greatgrandchildren, Kendra, Kayle, Christian, Christopher, Nathan, Willow, Owen, Irelynn, Abel, Marcus, Mellakii, Sofia, and Dayton. She was also a loving aunt and greataunt to many nieces and nephews. Kareen was preceded in death by her father, Frederick, her mother, Mary, her sister, Florence, and her brother, Frederick.

Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic for their very tender, loving care of our mom-wife-grandma-aunt-friend during this very difficult season.
