Leorah was born in Ithaca on March 22, 1938, a daughter of the late Franklin and Marjorie (Nelson) Presher. Throughout her life she worked a variety of jobs including Boeing Aircraft, Elston Electronics, the Romulus School District, and the Seneca Army Depot. She loved to read, spend time with friends and family, and spoil her dogs. One of her greatest joys was when she was able to keep her large garden to support her endless canning and baking. She would spend countless hours in her kitchen, with family and friends alike, enjoying the fruits of her labor.

As a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she devoted her life to taking care of others. Her family was her heart. Those that knew her couldn❜t help but be touched by her strength and a compassion for others that knew no boundaries. More often than not, she would go without to make sure that others did not have to. She faced life head on with grace and humor, a true inspiration to those that loved her. She was beautiful person, with a beautiful soul, who will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ronald Slate; her four children, Donald (Lynn) Quick, Jean Dunham, Nancy Snyder, and Eric (Charlotte) Slate; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; son in law, Mike Snyder; and dearest friends, Phyllis Weeks and Sabra Isham. In addition to her parents, Leorah was preceded in death by a daughter, Ronalee Slate; her three sisters; and her brother.
