Richard J. ‶Rick″ Burke, age 56, of 947 Yale Farm Road, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 South Main Street in Ovid. A Scripture Service, led by Fr. James Fennessy of St. Patrick❜s Church will be held at the funeral home at 1:00pm on Saturday, and prayers of committal will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Ovid. Rick was born in Geneva on May 12, 1961, a son of the late Gerard and Nan (Philbin) Burke. He was a 1979 graduate of Romulus Central School and had been a life-long resident of Yale Farm Road. For several years, Rick worked for RL Bates Paving of Geneva, and for nearly 14 years, he worked as a heavy equipment operator at Seneca Meadows Landfill. Rick was an avid outdoorsman and was an active member of the MacDougall Sportmen❜s Club, he was a NASCAR fanatic and rooted for the Buffalo Bills through thick and thin.
He is survived by his children, Jerry J. Burke of Romulus and Ashley Gee of Pensacola, FL; his siblings, Patricia B. (Charlie) Cool of Romulus and Michael J. (Terri) Burke of Houston, TX; his nieces, Kelly and Katelyn Burke and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins in Pennsylvania, and his beloved cat, ‶Tanto″.
