James E. Langley, age 80, of 5618 State Route 414, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 10, 2024
Jim was born in Seneca Falls on June 9, 1944, a son of the late William R. and June D. (nee Ostberg) Langley. He was a 1962 graduate of Ovid High School, and had worked as a therapy aide and transfer agent for many years at Willard Psychiatric Center, eventually retiring from the SOCR residence on Washington Street in Geneva. Jim was an avid outdoorsman, and had been a member of the South Seneca, Interlaken and MacDougall Sportsmen’s Clubs and Bassmasters, while also being an active member of the Ovid-Willard Lions Club for many years. He was a vintage car and NASCAR enthusiast. Jim loved his family deeply, his kindness towards others was reflected in always looking out for, and helping anyone that he could.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children, Pamela (Thomas) Lane of Romulus, Jay (Linda) Langley of Ovid, Michael Langley of Ridgway, CO, and Aaron (Kaela Orego) Langley of Seneca Falls; his grandchildren, Jesica (Kenny) Kline, Ashlee (Adam) Prentice, Heidi and Ariel Langley, Walker, Maverick and Alaric Richmond and Kingston Langley; 6 great grandchildren; his siblings, William Langley of Penn Yan, Larry (Lynda) Langley of Baldwinsville, Judy (Gary) Reinhard of Lima, and Susan (Bobby) Neal of Melbourne, FL; his mother in law, Inez Darling and brother in law, Rick Darling, and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and Robert.
The family will receive friends at Covert Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 on Monday, December 16, 2024.
