James A. MacCheyne, age 63, of Interlaken passed away on September 11, 2022.

The family will receive friends at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Thursday, September 15, 2022. Burial will be held privately for family. James was born in Waterloo on November 11, 1958, a son of the late Morton and Audrey (Boyce) MacCheyne. He was a graduate of South Seneca High School. James began working at Ronnie’s Body Shop his senior year of high school and would continue to work there for several years. He also worked at Willard Psychiatric Hospital in maintenance before continuing his career in auto body repair at Cuttings Motors and Route 89 Auto Sales.

James had a lifelong love of animals, owning multiple cats at any given time over the years. He also enjoyed watching baseball, NASCAR, and racing RC cars.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa (nee Maleski) MacCheyne; sister, Jeana (Tom Besemer) Schoener; nieces, Emily (Michael) Roy, Stephanie (Brett) DeWitt, and Jessica Maleski; great niece, Mackenzie Roy; and two aunts, Diane Woodard and Betty Lou MacCheyne. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his in laws, Stanley and Jeanette Maleski.
