Jane Lathan Passmore Esther

Esther Jane Lathan Passmore, age 84, of Romulus, formerly of Willard, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 29, 2014.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at her home at 5440 McDuffie Town Road, Romulus, on Saturday, February 1st, 2014 from 2-6 pm. The family asks those who wish to remember Esther in the form of a contribution to kindly consider the Hospice of Wayne and Seneca Counties (800-562-1650), or the Alzheimer’s Foundation, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001. Esther will be interred at the Walton Cemetery later in the spring at the family’s convenience.

Esther was born in Walton on October 15, 1929, daughter of the late Alton and Sara (McLaughlin) Lathan. She married William Passmore and moved to Lodi in 1951 where she raised her four children and worked on the family grape farm until 1978. She then worked at Willard Psychiatric Center as an administrative assistant until her retirement in 1994.

Esther is survived by four children, Anne Passmore (Don Davis) of Parish; Andrew (Sue) Passmore of Romulus; William (Denise) Passmore of Voorheesville; Margaret (Willard Burns) Passmore of Marianna, PA; four grandchildren Dave (Bonnie), Kyle (Shannon), Zachary and Caleb; and the father of her children, William Passmore of Hector. In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Richard.

We would like to thank Tami Bovard and Jessica Andrews for their compassion, caring and love for our Mother. They will forever be part of our family.

Esther was a devoted and loving mother, who made all around her happy with her Christmas bread, eggplant Parmigiana, lasagna, potato salad, macaroni salad, cookies, cake, iced tea and pies. She was an extremely welcoming and gracious presence in our lives, full of love, hope, kindness, warmth and generosity. She will be greatly missed.
