Jean E. Grace, age 88, longtime resident of Lodi, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Loretto Care Facility in Syracuse, following an extended illness.
The family will receive friends from 11am to Noon on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 South Main Street in Ovid. A funeral service will then follow at Noon, officiated by Pastor Jim Yao of the Lodi Presbyterian Church. Prayers of Committal will be held at West Lodi Cemetery. Immediately following, there will be a luncheon at the Lodi Volunteer Fire Hall where family and friends can celebrate Jean❜s life. Jean was born in Ithaca on October 2, 1926, the only daughter of James E. and Alice C. (Austin) Ellis. She was an LPN, first working at Sampson State Hospital, and then spent a long career at Willard Psychiatric Center, from which she retired. Jean was very active in the Lodi Community, as a member of the Historical Society, Fire Auxiliary, and the Presbyterian Church. The family has enjoyed their cottage at Lodi Point, a favorite gathering place for them since 1961.
She is survived by her children; James L. (Carol) Grace of Gainesville, Georgia, Kathryn G. (Alfred) Jacques of Jamesville, New York and her grandchildren; Ryder Jacques and Jessica McEvily, and her step grandchildren; Kristina Bivins and Edmund Notebaert III and great grandchildren; J.C. and Van McEvily, Ethan Bivins, Melissa, Brittany, Brooke, Sara and Edmund IV Notebaert. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Loren in 1985.
