Jonathan C. "Jake" Hosmer Sr.

Jonathan C. “Jake” Hosmer Sr., age 68, passed away at his home on Friday, July 9, 2021 following a prolonged illness.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 Main Street in Ovid.  A funeral service will immediately  follow at 4:00. Burial will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse. The family will host a memorial event in Cocoa Beach for Jonathan’s friends and colleagues in Florida.  That announcement will be forthcoming in the latter part of the year.

Jonathan was born in Stamford, Connecticut on June 5, 1953 the only son of the late Robert C. and Flora Grace (Mather) Hosmer. He had attended community colleges and had earned his credentials as a private investigor.  He lived in Brevard County, Florida for many years, operating a boat and auto brokerage. Locally, he owned the H & R Body Shop in Nelson, NY.

Jonathan is survived by his children; Kimberly (Edward Prall) Hosmer and their daughter,Harper Lillian of Fulton, NY, Jonathan C. Hosmer Jr. and Christian Shields Hosmer, both of Melbourne, FL and Jonathan formed a father like bond with Jansen Thames of Cocoa Beach, FL; his sister, Elizabeth Hosmer Schaefer of Cazenovia and her daughter, Jennifer of St. Petersburg, FL and his childhood friend and cousin, Cameron “Tunker” (Maren) Hosmer of Ovid, NY.
