Deborah Jones-Wech, age 54, died at the home of her parents on Sunday, October 23, 2016, following many years of deteriorating health.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10:00am on Friday, October 28, 2016, officiated by Rev. Adam Porter of the Covert Baptist Church. Debbie was born on August 24, 1962 in Waterloo, the daughter of David and Winnie (Menter) Jones Sr. She graduated from South Seneca and received her associate❜s degree in business management. She had worked at Cayuga Lake Watershed in Interlaken, in addition to the Town of Lodi, and for Combined Life Ins. Company. She also had her cosmetology license and enjoyed doing hair for the family. She was an avid crafter and while a resident of Cayuga Ridge Extended Care, she taught craft and cooking classes. She was instrumental in helping the residents build a walk in greenhouse from plastic soda bottles enabling the residents to grow plants for their garden and flower beds. When able Debbie enjoyed hunting deer and taught Gun Safety Courses. She was a member of the Interlaken Sportsman❜s Club.
She is survived by her parents, David and Winnie Jones Sr. of Lodi, her children; Courtney (James) Maphis of Interlaken, Wesley (Aly) Wech of Jamesville, NY and Amanda Wech of Interlaken; her grandchildren, Arianna and Rileigh Maphis and Sophie Wech; her siblings, David (Nancy) Jones of Interlaken, Linda (Vincent) Laper of Ellicot City, MD Marilu (Timothy) Gordon, Winchester, VA; her cousins that grew up with her in the family home, Christine (Dan) Hargarther, Bob (Ann Marie) Simmons and Mark (Lisa) Simmons, along with a host nieces, nephews and cousins. Debbie was preceded in death by her brother, James Jones, and by her grandparents, Frank and Hazel Menter and John and Geraldine Jones.
