Joseph A. Bennett

Joseph A. Bennett, age 83, longtime resident of Yale Station Road, died on Saturday, August 28, 2021 following a brief hospitalization.

A private graveside service will be held at Mount Green Cemetery. Kindly consider a donation in Joe’s memory to the Romulus Fire Department, PO Box 2, Romulus, NY  14541.

Joe was born in Ithaca, NY on March 3, 1938, a son of the late Robert and Frances (Ball) Bennett.  He was a graduate of Trumansburg High School, and married Doris “Dottie” Xavier on June 10, 1961, he then spent the next 30 years working the family farm on Vineyard Road in Romulus. During his career, Joe drive school bus for Romulus Central School and was an over the road truck driver.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dottie; his children, Stacey (Jennifer Consolie) Bennett of Romulus, Jolene (Scott) Davis of Canastota; his grandchildren, Thomas Smalser, Zoe Bennett and Madisyn Davis; his step mother, Barbara Bennett of South Carolina; his siblings, Warren (Sally) Bennett of Georgia, William (Corinne) Bennett of Arkansas, Gary (Mary) Dutcher of Kentucky and Susan Heins of South Carolina and the extended Xavier family.
