Joseph E. Nogle

Joseph E. Nogle, age 87, longtime resident of East Lake Road, passed away at his home on Friday, April 30, 2021.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am to Noon on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid.  A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Rob Mellgard will then be held at Noon, followed by prayers of committal at Ovid Union Cemetery. Joe was the sixth of thirteen children born to the late Joseph and Mary (nee Wise) Nogle on November 16, 1933 in Buffalo Crossroads, Union County, PA.   He started working at a very young age and moved to New York in 1950, he worked at Pepsi-Co in Ovid from 1952-1956, where he met his future wife, Shirley. They were married on September 25, 1954 and they celebrated the birth of their daughter, Jo Ann on December 27, 1955. From there, he worked at Carson’s Farms from 1956 to 1967, and then purchased their farm in Fayette in 1967, which he continued to operate until 2018.  In addition, Joe worked as a carpenter at Willard Psychiatric Center from 1967-1993. Joe and Shirley traveled extensively and have visited all 50 states.

Joe is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley; many nieces and nephews; their special friends and neighbors, Bill and Shelli DeCicco and family; and his siblings, Jane Sees and George Nogle.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jo Ann in 1981 and by his siblings, John, Donald, Ralph, Charlie, Blanche, Dorothy, June, Miriam, Anne and Louise.
