Judith "Judy" (Chaffee) Steve Messenger

Judith “Judy” Steve Messenger, age 83, longtime resident of McCarrigher Road, passed away on Tuesday, February 9th, 2021 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA due to complications of Covid-19.

Judy was born in Newfield, NY on April 16, 1937, a daughter of the late Maynard and Vivien Chaffee.  Judy enjoyed a long career at South Seneca School District and was beloved by her many students and teammates. She was a lifetime member of the Interlaken Baptist Church. Judy had many friends and was greatly loved in her community, she will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her heartbroken family; daughters, Terri Steve of Georgia and Veronica "Roni"  Steve of Elmira; 7 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. Judy was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Steve in 2007 and by her daughter, Vicki Hendrix in 2010, and by her later in life husband, Dick just days before her death.

Services for Judy are planned for the summer of 2021 and will be announced by Covert Funeral Home of Ovid.
