Kenneth L. Austin, age 69 has baled his last load of hay and ridden⁰ his favorite John Deere into the setting sun on Sunday, May 23, 2021.

Ken was born in Elmira on July 31, 1951, son of the late Lyle and Lelia Anthony Austin. He was a graduate of Horseheads High School Class of 1970. Always a farmer at heart, he started his own dairy herd in high-school and worked on other farms. He married Beverly Wheeler and together they established Austin Home Dairy. He then worked for Hoster Dairy Service and later as a herdsman on several dairy farms before managing his own dairy once again. He then worked for Rationmaker, Animal Medic, and retired from Ferrell Gas.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cindy Trout Austin; his children, Frank Austin of Chicago, Judy (Dakota) Fritts of Millport, Molly (Patrick) Sierzenga of Auburn, Lisa (Brian) Phinney of Fulton and Bethany (Benjamin) Calkins of Interlaken; his grandchildren, Cheianne Webster, Julia and Owen Sierzenga, Bradford and Bowden Calkins and Ellie Phinney; his sister, Bonnie Wead.  Ken was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Wheeler Austin; his granddaughter, Shyann Weber; his sister and brother in law, Shirley (Ken) Dean and his brother in law, Norman Wead.

A Celebration of Life will be hosted at the family farm, 7661 Potter Morgan Road on Sunday, June 13th. There will be calling hours from 12pm to 2pm with a service to follow. The family requests guests wear John Deere green in honor of Ken's love of John Deere tractors.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bernold and the staff at Interlakes Oncology for their compassionate care over the last 9 years.
