L. "Sonny" Lynch Arthur

Arthur L. “Sonny” Lynch, age 85, passed away peacefully at Cayuga Medical Center on Wednesday, November 19, 2014.
Art was born in Seneca Falls on November 20, 1928, a son of the late Edwin B. and Gertrude E. (Essom) Lynch. After graduating from Ovid Central School, he started a long career at Seneca Army Depot, working first as a freight handler and then retiring as a truck driver in 1983. Art continued working in his retirement as a truck driver for Max-Am Trucking in Interlaken. He was a member of the Ithaca Radio Control Society, and loved building and flying remote control planes. Art was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Trumansburg, and lived humbly by the teachings of the church.

Art is survived by his wife, Clarissa; his brother, Jim (Judy) Lynch of Sarasota, FL; his children, Sharon Anne (Chuck) Maile of Delmar, DE, Marilyn J. Moore of Laurel, DE and Richard A. (Lou Ann) Lynch of Victor, NY; his step-children, Peggy (Jim) Mahoney of Marlboro, NY, Cyndi (John) Anderson of Tampa, FL, Bob (Marge) Johnson of Horseheads, NY and Chris (Tony) Vaughan of Willard, NY; many treasured grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00pm on Friday, November 21 at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 South Main Street in Ovid. Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 319 Pennsylvania Avenue in Trumansburg at 10:00am on Saturday, November 22. Prayers of committal will be held at Ovid Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Art’s memory may be made to American Cancer Society, your local SPCA or Guide Dogs for the Blind.
