L. Travis Sandy

Sandy L. (Steele) Travis, age 60, passed away at her home on Friday, August 10, 2018.

Calling hours will be held at the Romulus Fire Department, 2010 Cayuga Street, from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 6:00 -8:00pm on Thursday, August 16, 2018. A Memorial Service, officiated by Pastor Rob Melgard of the Ovid Federated Church, will be held at the fire house at 11:00am on Friday, August 17, 2018. Sandy was born on December 13, 1957 in Waterloo, the only daughter of the late James and Beverly (Foster) Steele. She was a 1976 graduate of Romulus High School and had worked at the Seneca County Sheriff❜s Department as a dispatcher before beginning a long career as a bus driver for the Romulus School District. As a bus driver for so many years, she built strong relationships with ‶her kids″ and considered them as her own. She was an active member of the Romulus Fire Department, having nearly grown up in the building with her father, a former long-time chief. She was a member of the auxiliary, and was most recently captain of the fire police. Sandy surrounded herself with family, and extended family creating and fostering a close knit bond amongst all of them. Never one to hold back from her voicing her praise or opinion, her dynamic personality will be greatly missed by many.

She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Robert Travis, her daughter, Danielle (Maurice) Russ of Ovid, her son, Derek Morrell of Romulus; her grandsons, Damar and Kenyan Russ and Dax Morrell; a brother, Robert (Donna) Steele of Geneva and their children, Danny and Ciara, and her stepchildren, Carie (Gene) Harper, Kristen (Brian) George, Danielle Travis, Jamie and Aaron Stevens and 4 step grandchildren.
