Legasse Nellie

d. December 31, 2016

Nellie Legasse, age 98, met her Lord "In the Garden" December 31, 2016. She passed away peacefully in Lorain, Ohio, where she had resided for 8 years, a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Ovid Union Cemetery.

Nellie was born in Interlaken, NY, October 19, 1918 to W.Seward and Helen Brooks. She graduated from Ovid High School in 1935, and lived the majority of her life in the Hayts Corners area where she was the sole beautician of Nellie's Beauty Shop on County Road 129. She later was employed for 16 years at the Seneca Army Depot, retiring in 1983.

Always a hard-working woman, but seeking fun activities, Nellie enjoyed her piano music and games of any type, especially Scrabble, Bingo, and Rummy....but she taught her children to understand that "First we work together, then we play together!" Knitting, crocheting, paint-by-number, as she was watching her television, occupied many hours in her later years.

Nellie is the last of the Brooks Family to transition to heaven, having been preceded by her parents and by sisters: Margaret (Monroe) Covert, Esther (Charles) Dickerson, Betty (Ronald) St.John, Mathilde (Clair) Updike; and a brother: Seward ‶Dutch″ Brooks.

She is survived by her 4 children from her first marriage to Edwin C. Swick (deceased): Joan Wane and James (Sue) Swick, both of California, Judy (Tom) Morneau of Minnesota, Karen (Ron) Wooledge of Ohio, many grand and greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred S. Legasse in 2003, and by son in law, Chuck Wane.

A graveside memorial service is planned for June of 2017.
