Leland A. "Pat" Parish, age 60, of Crisfield Road, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Pat was born in Geneva on December 21, 1963, a son of the late Ray and Betty Parish. He worked in the family business, Happy Landing Gas Station and then began a long career with NY State. He worked at the Willard Psychiatric Center, Willard DTC, and retired from Five Points Correctional Facility, where he had earned the rank of lieutenant, retiring after 33 years in 2017. To his brothers and sisters, also known as his corrections family, your friendship, compassion, comradery, humor and love in its many forms saw him through each day.
Our Dad had a wide range of hobbies and interests, some of which included gardening, snowmobiling, aviation (at one time owned his own plane), camping, hiking, road tripping in his beloved van - "Jenny" and had recently restored his motorcycle. His many one liners, quotes and sayings will be well remembered by his family and friends.
Here is what we, his three proud daughters, would like to share with you about our Dad, “Papa Pat”. Our father would, and did, give anyone the shirt off his back. He leaves behind no shirts. Throughout his lifetime he selflessly gave them all away to the innumerous souls he encountered along the way that he intuitively knew needed them. May we all be so lucky to leave this world as he did - naked, good looking, and fulfilled.
He is survived by his beloved daughters, Michelle (Stephen) Ubriaco of Wilsonville, OR, Nikki (Nathan Budd) Parish of Lodi and Kelly (Brandon Hoad) Parish of Ovid; his granddaughters, Hailey Hoad, Evelyn and Sophia Ubriaco, his girlfriend, Donna Mott and his faithful heart dog and co-pilot Goldie B. Waggletails.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the South Seneca Sportsman’s Club, on Friday September 13th, 2024 from 3pm to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Humane Society of Schuyler County in Pat's honor.
