Lois H. Caward, age 95, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at SUNY Upstate Medical Center, following a fall at her home on Thursday.

Lois was born on March 26, 1923 in Wellsboro, PA, a daughter of the late Frank B. and Katherine (Batt) Hall. Her family lived in Corning, and upon completion of high school, she worked at NY Telephone Company. On August 8, 1942, she married a young soldier, James R. Caward, and their lifelong military career started. They lived throughout the world, and made Interlaken their home in the early 1970❜s.

Lois was a social butterfly who had a wonderful gift of gab. Her smile and laughter were contagious. Everyone who met her fell in love with her amazing sense of humor. Lois had a passion for jewelry and animals. She enjoyed a good book but most of all she enjoyed her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed immensely by all that knew and loved her.

Lois is survived by her son, Kevin Caward of Auburn, her adoring granddaughter, Heather (George Dailey) Caward of Geneva; a sister in law, Jean Hall of Maryland and by her nieces and nephews. She is also survived by so many loving friends who became her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Jim Caward in 2010, and by her loving daughter, Sherry Caward of Alexandria, VA in 2017, her daughter in law, Elaine Caward of Auburn, NY in 1989, and by her sister, Thelma Hollenbeck and brother, Don Hall.

The family will receive friends from Noon to 1:00pm on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 So. Main Street in Ovid. A funeral service will then be held at 1:00pm, officiated by family friend, Rev. Kenneth Lynn. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery.
