Lona Y. (Timken) Lester

ROMULUS-Lona Y. Lester, of 5658 East Lake Road, died at Strong Memorial Hospital on Sunday, June 6, 2021.

The family will host a Celebration of Life at their home on Saturday, July 10th, 2021 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.   In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Lona’s memory to the Beverly Animal Shelter, 50 East River Road, Waterloo, NY 13165.

Lona was born in Bath on August 12, 1942, a daughter of the late Lucien and Thelma (Smith) Timken. She graduated from Savona High School in June of 1960 and married Albert G. Lester on June 25, 1960. This month would have been a celebration of 61 years of marriage. They made their family home in Bath. Lona was truly a homemaker at heart. She loved her family, animals and gardening. Lona and Al fell in love with Seneca Lake over several years while they docked their boat at Sampson State Park.  So much so that in 2004 they built their dream home on Seneca.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Albert G. Lester; their daughters, Kimberly (Mark) Prescott of Hammonsport, Denise (Peter) Smalt of Canandaigua; six grandchildren, Jared, Shane, Jordan, Reagan, Matthew and Bailee; five great grandchildren, Bryonna, Kyla, Elijah, Titus, and Eleanor; and her brother Thomas Timken of Utah. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Yvonne Lester; and siblings, Richard Timken and Constance Smith.
