Lucian R. Carvalho, age 85, longtime resident of Asbury Road in Lansing, passed away at his son’s home in Lodi, on Friday, January 14, 2022, following a recent cancer diagnosis.

Lucian was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on March 23, 1936, a son of the late Gustavo and Gladys (Kenfield) Carvalho. He was married to Linda Bernhardt on November 16, 1957, and together they raised their family in the Lansing area.

Lucian had a long career as a miner and equipment operator at Cayuga Rock Salt which later became known as Cargill, Inc. in Lansing.

Linda began studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses in the early 60’s and attended congregation meetings there at Kingom Farm in South Lansing. She enjoyed what she was learning and soon after Lucian joined her. They dedicated their lives to serving their creator, Jehovah God June 30, 1967. Lucian soon took the lead in teaching his family how to help others in the door-to-door ministry that Jesus instituted while here on earth. Most recently, he and Linda had been active members in the Watkins Glen Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses since moving to Interlaken a few years ago to be near their children. During the Pandemic, Lucian engaged in the world-wide letter writing campaign with his spiritual brothers and sisters to encourage community members and share his faith in a bright future under Christ’s Kingdom rule. He especially loved the Bible promise that Jesus would soon resurrect the dead to a beautiful cleansed earth where he could be united with Linda and other loved ones lost in death! - John 5:28,29; Acts 24:15.
