M. Getman Anne

Anne M. Tarr McDonald Getman, age 85, died on Tuesday, October 6, 2015.

Anne was born in Geneva, New York, to the late Dr. Albert J. and Mellie (Scofield) Tarr. She graduated Geneva High School in 1947, and Keuka College School of Nursing in 1951. Anne enjoyed her life as an enthusiastic nurse, mother, and artist. Anne was a 40 year volunteer for the Red Cross and was recognized in 2000, as Volunteer of the Year by the United Way of Seneca County.

She is survived by her children, Stephen J. (Bonnie) McDonald, Susan M. McDonald, and Allan J. McDonald, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; her brother, John (Lou) Tarr of Geneva; Paul McPherson, best neighbor ever; and her lifelong friend, Jean Quinn of Ovid. Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. McDonald, her children, Joann M. McDonald and John Paul McDonald, by her grandson, Jimmy McDonald, and her sisters, Wilma Bacolas Rice, and Jeanne Moreland.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 S. Main Street in Ovid. Prayers of committal will be held privately at Holy Cross Cemetery.
