M. Covert Doris

Doris M. Covert, age 92, longtime resident of 7112 Prospect Street in Ovid, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 10, 2017.

The family will be present to receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00pm on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Covert Funeral Home of Ovid. Interment will be held privately at Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo. Doris was born on October 21, 1924 in Waterloo, one of five children born to Lloyd and Hazel (Osborn) Griswold. She was a 1942 graduate of Ovid Central School and was married to Lester H. Covert on November 27, 1945. Together they started their family on a small farm in Waterloo and later moved to Border City. In 1962, the family moved to Ovid where they owned and operated Tarr❜s Dairy Store on Route 96A, until their retirement in 1986. She was a caregiver to Mrs. McArdle for several years, and then worked as a store clerk at the Big M, finally retiring at the age of 85.

She is survived by her children; MaryLou (Van) Johnson of Interlaken/Fresno, CA, Linda M. (Gordon) Gable of Leesburg, FL, Aaron (Cindy) Covert and Gary (Debbie) Covert all of Ovid; 7 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her husband in 1997, and by her son Ronald in 2007, and by his son, Ronald Jr. in 1990, and by her siblings, Allen, Norman, Teresa and Robert.
