M. Martz Janice

Janice M. Martz, age 68, longtime resident of Ovid, passed away at the House of John in Clifton Springs on Wednesday, June 15, 2016.

The family will receive friends at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid from 10:00am to 11:00am on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, a memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 11:00, officated by Rev. Diane Walker. Prayers of committal will be held at Ovid Union Cemetery. Janice was born on April 13, 1948 in Seneca Falls, a daughter of the late Garvis and Virginia (Fish) Covert. She was a 1967 graduate of Romulus High School, and soon there after was married to Lewis C. Martz of Ovid. They started their family and she proudly stayed at home, she later worked in the cafeteria at South Seneca Central School and North Street School in Geneva.

She is survived by her son, Lewis C. Martz Jr. of West Fayette; daughter, Heidi (Jeff) Kresser of Syracuse; and her grandchildren, Jared Martz and Jameson Kresser; her brother, Theodore (Nancy) Covert of Glasco, NY and sisters, Patricia Moore of Interlaken and Bertha Dilts of Dundee; several nieces and nephews and her husband❜s extended family. Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis C. Martz Sr. in 2009.

The family would like to thank the staff of Finger Lakes Oncology, Lifetimecare Hospice and the House of John for their compassionate care throughout Janice❜s extended illness.
